For multiple years, Left 4 Dead 2 has been plagued with a bug where loading into a campaign that uses the L4D1 common infected populations will result in large hitches when they first come into your view on each level. The L4D1 CI populations were added by The Last Stand update in September 2020 (version 2.2.0.0). Of course, nothing is ever as simple as it seems, and the issue actually goes much deeper than this.
